Ryan Berg recently spoke with CBS News about how Sheinbaum’s victory could influence U.S.-Mexico relations.
Ryan stated that while consistency in Mexico’s policy is anticipated, Sheinbaum’s personality is likely to reduce friction between the US and Mexico on issues such as migration and security cooperation.
Concerning the democratic backsliding under President Lopez Obrador’s leadership, Ryan noted that the U.S., viewing Mexico as a crucial strategic partner, hopes the next president will pursue a different course regarding institutional strength and democratic issues.
On the subject of environmental policy, Ryan mentioned that Sheinbaum has distinguished herself by demonstrating an interest in green energy investments. However, as she continues to carry out President Lopez Obrador’s fourth transformation policy, Mexico will certainly preserve the dominant role of its significant state-owned energy companies.
